Sound and vibration

Cymatics, also known as modal phenomena, is the study of visible sound and vibrations, typically on the surface of a plaque, diaphragm, or membrane. Vibrations directly involves the use of sound visualization to the means of exciting often in the form of particles, pastes and liquids.
The apparatus employed may be simple, such as a Chladni or advanced plate, such as CymaScope, a laboratory instrument that makes visible the inherent geometries within sound and music.
